Masquerade Turns Robber

In Nigeria, masquerades are known to be seen mostly during festive periods like new yam festival and the likes. They are never known to be thieves or “ole”. However this was not the case in Ekiti state as one Mr. Akinniran Akinyele was robbed of his valuables by men wearing masquerade hood on the 1st of September 2012.

A masquerade called Sinrinminyi belonging to the family of one 24yrs old Mr. Sunday Osalusi, who is now in police custody, is the masquerade in question. According to reports from Ekiti state police command, four of the suspected seven-man gang have been arrested. The other three members are still at large.
