  The Associated airlines plane carrying the corpse of former Governor of Ondo State Dr Olusegun Agagu crashed in Lagos this morning, Thursday 3 rd   October 2013. Killing at least 15 people and leaving about 5 survivors, few minutes after taking off from the Murtala Muhammed International in Lagos, Nigeria.

Breaking News: Gun Men Kill Gombe Minority Leader

Unknown gunmen Wednesday night killed the Minority Leader of Gombe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulhamid Waziri Doho, raining bullets on him. According to a statement by a close friend of the deceased, Malam Adamu Yakubu, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the incident, “six strange looking men  arrived the residence of the lawmaker, opposite Gombe State University, at around 8:30 pm local time and shot him at close range.” He further said that three of the gun men immediately went into the sitting room of the late Waziri, where they met him and rained several shots on him, leaving him in a pool of his own blood. His daughter, who rushed to the sitting room to find out what happened, managed to escape with a gunshot wound on her left arm. When contacted on telephone, the state Police Public Relations Officer DSP Fwaje Atajiri told newsmen that he was still putting together, his facts on the incident.   (source)

Nigeria Defense Minister Slumps At Armed Forces Remembrance Day

The Minister of State for Defence, Mrs. Olusola Obada, Tuesday according to a report in allafrica.com, caused a stir as she slumped at the celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abuja where President Goodluck Jonathan, along with other top government officials and members of the diplomatic corps had gathered to honour Nigeria's fallen heroes. The ceremony included a 21-gun salute, playing of the Last Post, a minute's silence, laying of wreaths and releasing pigeons, as a mark of peace, took place at the National Arcade Three Arms Zone, Abuja. This could be as a result of her been exhausted after standing in the scorching sun with the service chiefs and other dignitaries for about four hours and the unexpected booms of artillery gunfire at the occasion, she had to be assisted by aides who led her to a seat. Nigerian student Commits Suicide in India

kelvin lakoju Kelvin Lakoju, a 28-year-old photography student from Nigeria allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the second floor of his rented accommodation in Sector 41, Nodia India as reported by Times of India. The Indian Police said that preliminary investigation suggests that the deceased Kelvin Lakoju was depressed. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Embassy and the deceased's family have been informed about the incident. Kelvin who was pursuing a photography course from an institute in film city till his death, had been living in Noida since 2009. The police said that he jumped off around 11pm on Wednesday. "We have questioned some people and came to know that he was upset for some reasons," said deputy SP, S Chinappa. "His friends said Kelvin was good at studies. Nigeria: EFCC Seizes Sylva's 48 Houses

Houses worth billions of naira belonging to the former Bayelsa state Governor Mr. Timipre Sylva has been seized by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Thursday in Abuja. Mr. Timipre Sylva is being prosecuted at a Federal High Court in Abuja, for alleged misappropriation of N6.46 billion state funds, when he was the governor of the state. In a statement signed by the Acting Head, Media and Publicity of EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, the commission said an interim forfeiture order to attach Sylva's properties was granted by Justice A. R Mohammed of on December 21, 2012. However, last week, another Abuja High Court presided by Justice M.M. Kolo ordered the EFCC not to tamper with property belonging to the former Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva. The court gave the order on December 27, 2012 while ruling on a motion filed by the former governor, who is also facing money laundering charges. FIFA U-17 Women World Cup

The Nigerian representatives in the ongoing FIFA U-17 women world cup in Azerbaijan, the Flamingoes crashed out of the competition yesterday losing 5-2 on penalty to France at the quarter finals.  The match ended 0:0 after extra time. However fortune smiled on France as they were able to convert all there penalty kicks while Nigeria could only convert three of their spot kicks. Toletti, Declrcq Mbock, Bathy, Cascarino and Romanelli all converted for France while Emenayo, Ofoegbu and Biahwo scored for Nigeria and Nnodim missed Nigerias second penalty.  France qualified for the finals beating Nigeria 5-2 on penalty.
