Fire Outbreak:Fire At Lagos Deputy Governor's House

The official quarters of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire was saved from what would have been a major fire disaster in Lagos State on Sunday by people NEMA, Lagos State Fire Service and people who were in and around the premises. The fire was said to have been caused by an electric spark from the room of the Special Assistant to the deputy governor on media Mr. Tunde Abatan. According to ThISDAY, there were no casualties recorded during the fire out break that occurred at about 1:30pm on the fateful day. The Information Officer of the South-West Zone of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed that the fire incident was caused by an electric fault when contacted.

Obasanjo’s Mansion Gutted By Fire

The multi- million naira hilltop residence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo was gutted by fire on Thursday in Abeokuta the capital of Ogun State Nigeria. The fire incident took place about 48 hours after some part of the popular Jankara Market in Lagos state was razed down by fire resulting from fire crackers popularly known as Knockout or Banger in Nigeria. Obasanjo, who was not around during the fire outbreak, came to assess the extent of the damage caused by the fire shortly after the fire incident. He told reporters that it was just part of his secretary’s office that was burnt by the fire.  The former president showed no sign of distress. He in his usual jovial way, started singing in Yoruba that "Ile Obasanjo to jo, ewa lo bu kun. Fire Incident Reported at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos

There was an electrical fire incident on Thursday morning at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos as reported by source.  According to an eyewitness, the fire emanated from some cables melted under heat, as a result of some welders working at the extension of ‘D’ Wing of the international airport. Power supply was swiftly cut off by airport officials to the arrival and departure terminals, in order to forestall any unforeseen development and isolated the scene of the spark. The fire fighters deployed in the affected area were able to put the situation under control. However, power supply was restored to the airport terminal within a few minutes. Flight operations were not affected while the incident lasted.
