Money Extorting Policemen, LASTMA Official Arrested in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command in a bid to curb the excesses of policemen within its command arrested six policemen over the weekend for extorting money from motorists. The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Commissioner of Police X Squad for extortion.

Obasanjo’s Mansion Gutted By Fire

The multi- million naira hilltop residence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo was gutted by fire on Thursday in Abeokuta the capital of Ogun State Nigeria. The fire incident took place about 48 hours after some part of the popular Jankara Market in Lagos state was razed down by fire resulting from fire crackers popularly known as Knockout or Banger in Nigeria. Obasanjo, who was not around during the fire outbreak, came to assess the extent of the damage caused by the fire shortly after the fire incident. He told reporters that it was just part of his secretary’s office that was burnt by the fire.  The former president showed no sign of distress. He in his usual jovial way, started singing in Yoruba that "Ile Obasanjo to jo, ewa lo bu kun. Eko 2012: Delta Wins National Sports Festival

The 18 th edition of the National Sports Festival tagged ‘Eko 2012’ came to an end yesterday with the Delta State contingents emerging as winners. Delta state topped the medal table with a total of 118 Gold, 99 Silver and 75 Bronze medals. Rivers State came second with 76 Gold, 71 Silver and 70 Bronze medals while the host Lagos State came third with 64 Gold, 47 Silver and 44 Bronze mwdals. Delta State will receive the N 20M promised by President Goodluck Jonathan to the eventual winners of Eko 2012. Twenty nine out of the 36 states and the federal capital territory won at least one Gold medal in the sports event. The next edition will be hosted by Cross River State who finished in the eight position with twelve Gold, 14 Silver and twenty three Bronze medals.
