Top Nigerian music icon Fatai Olayiwola Olagunju popularly
known as Fatai Rolling Dollar dies at
86. He died yesterday at Maritol Hospital in Surulere Lagos.
The death of the Nigerian highlife music maestro was
confirmed on Wednesday in Lagos by the spokesman of the Ministry of Culture
Ipaye Olajide.
The African highlife music icon according to a
member of his band fell ill shortly after he came back from the United States
of America about three weeks ago.
One of Fatai Rolling dollars songs “Won kere si
number wa” is still enjoyed by both old and young today.
The leader of the Fatai Rolling Dollar and his
African Rhythm Band will be missed by the Nigerian music industry and all that
love good African highlife music.
May his soul rest in peace… Amen.
