Sugarcane Seller Stab Customer To Death
What would have been another major
communal conflict was Wednesday averted in Makurdi the Benue state capital,
after a sugarcane seller allegedly stabbed his customer,19 year old Umaru
Abdulrahaman, to death following an argument.
The incident according to Vanguard eyewitness
took place Wednesday morning at about 10 am in the Wadata area of Makurdi of
town.
According to the witness, the
deceased who until his death lived at number20 Kano street, Wadata had engaged
the sugarcane seller in an argument after purchasing a stick of sugarcane from
him over the supposed balance the seller was to give the murdered buyer. All they
heard was a sudden laud scream and the young man fell to the ground.
When the witness and other people
rushed to the scene they saw blood gushing from chest of the deceased where he
was stabbed and they discovered that the young man was dead cold while his
attacker immediately fled the scene of the incident leaving his victim in his
own pool of blood.
The Benue State Police Public
Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, Daniel Ezeala
confirmed the incident when contacted, but pointed out that the police was yet
to make any arrests noting that the police had taken steps to avert any form of
crisis arising from the incident.
