Nigeria: Gombe Assembly Member kidnapped
The House Committee Chairman on
Finance of the Gombe state House of Assembly was kidnapped in Nigeria by unidentified
gunmen yesterday the 30th of December 2012.
According a report by his brother Hamza
on BBC Hausa, Alhaji Jalo Ahmed Ganga was abducted at about 5am near his home at
Danaje Quarters by some men who came on motorcycles on his way to the mosque
for the Muslims early Morning Prayer. He further said that three men on two
motorcycles stopped and forced Alhaji Jalo to mount on one of the motorcycles
at gunpoint while he was walking to the mosque.
The Gombe state Commissioner of
Police confirmed the kidnap as quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The Police
Chief further said that the kidnappers abandoned their motorbike with no plate
number. He however assured the public that the Police Command will do
everything possible within its power to effect the release of the lawmaker.
Up to the time of this report, there
is no information on his whereabouts.
