US election: Barack Obama Re-elected




President Barack Obama
President Barack Obama of the US has been re-elected for a second term, defeating his Republican challenger Mitt Romney. With the election results coming in from most states in US, America's first black president has secured the 270 votes in the Electoral College needed to win the election for the second time.

This victory brings an end a year-long campaign that brought about historic advert spending level, speeches and countless rallies as well as three most-watched debates. 


Romney reciprocated by congratulating President Barack Obama, the man who he had campaigned against for more than a year. That is the spirit of a true statesman.

How many politicians in Nigeria have congratulated or can congratulate their opponent after losing out in an election? They should please imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.

Ban On DANA Air Lifted

The federal government yesterday cleared Dana Airline to resume operations. This is coming ninety eight days after the airline plane crash that killed about153 persons in Lagos. According to the statement made by Mr. Joe Obi the Special Adviser (Media) to the minister of aviation, the government restored the operating license of Dana Airline as it was satisfied with the air worthiness of the airline after conducting a rigorous technical, operational and financial audit of the airline. This has generated a mixed reaction among concerned Nigerians. Some believe it is not yet time to lift the suspension, questioning the rationale behind the lifting of the ban on the airline, especially as most of the families of the people involved in the plan crash are yet to be compensated.
