Nigeria 3 – 1 Venezuela




The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated their South American counterpart Venezuela 3 -1 in a friendly match played at the Marlin Park in Miami, Florida in the US on Thursday 15th November 2012. The match is in preparation of the AFCON coming up in January 2012.

All the goals were scored in the second half as the first half ended scoreless with Nigeria having a better ball possession and Venezuela having better scoring chances. Bright Dike and Shola Ameobi all made their debut for Nigeria in the match.
Brown Ideye, Nosa Igiebor and Onaze Ogenyi scored the Super Eagles goals on the 50’, 53’ and 90’ respectively while Fletscher scored Venezuela’s consolation goal in the 70’.
The win is the Super Eagles second win over Venezuela with first win been in a friendly played on July 26, 2003 with J J Okocha scoring the only goal of the match.

Ban On DANA Air Lifted

The federal government yesterday cleared Dana Airline to resume operations. This is coming ninety eight days after the airline plane crash that killed about153 persons in Lagos. According to the statement made by Mr. Joe Obi the Special Adviser (Media) to the minister of aviation, the government restored the operating license of Dana Airline as it was satisfied with the air worthiness of the airline after conducting a rigorous technical, operational and financial audit of the airline. This has generated a mixed reaction among concerned Nigerians. Some believe it is not yet time to lift the suspension, questioning the rationale behind the lifting of the ban on the airline, especially as most of the families of the people involved in the plan crash are yet to be compensated.
