President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday announced the death of his younger brother, Chief Meni Jonathan. The brother’s death coincided with the President’s 55th birthday. Chief Meni passed away at the National Hospital, Abuja, after a brief illness.

According to the statement by Reuben Abati the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity in Abuja, formal burial arrangements would be announced by the family.

Ban On DANA Air Lifted

The federal government yesterday cleared Dana Airline to resume operations. This is coming ninety eight days after the airline plane crash that killed about153 persons in Lagos. According to the statement made by Mr. Joe Obi the Special Adviser (Media) to the minister of aviation, the government restored the operating license of Dana Airline as it was satisfied with the air worthiness of the airline after conducting a rigorous technical, operational and financial audit of the airline. This has generated a mixed reaction among concerned Nigerians. Some believe it is not yet time to lift the suspension, questioning the rationale behind the lifting of the ban on the airline, especially as most of the families of the people involved in the plan crash are yet to be compensated.
