Bomb Explosion: About 60 People Dead In Kano
It was reported yesterday 8th
March 2013 that at least 60 people were killed in a bomb explosion that
occurred in New Road Motor Park in Sabon-Gari, Kano.
The bomb blast destroyed several
buses and killed many people. The scene of the bomb explosion was cordoned off by
men of the Nigerian Policemen and Soldiers immediately after the tragic
incident.
A large number of people injured by
the bomb explosion have already been taken to various hospitals in Kano city
for treatment.
According a speech credited to the
chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Kano Chapter,
Chief Tobias Idika the records passed to him show that more than 60 people were
killed and about 5 luxury buses got burnt.
The Joint Military Taskforce
confirmed the incident. Military Outfit Spokesman Captain Ikediche Iweha said,
“We have moved in to the scene of the blast and we are trying to restore confidence
to forestall looting.”
“We have invited men from Fire
Service Department to put off the fire triggered by the blast and dozens were
down by the impact of the blast. Our priority now is to secure the area and we
do not have the casualty figure because we have not started counting.
Investigation has commenced on the incident and that will reveal what happened,
and how it happened,” Iweha explained.
It could be recalled that bomb
explosion has taken place in different locations in Kano state since 2009.
